COME JOIN US!
For an out-of-the-ordinary, online and at-home summer enrichment program that engages kids in MEANINGFUL dialogue, and FUN, CREATIVE activities around race, humanity, environmental responsibility and global leadership!
FOR KIDS 8 TO 12 YEARS OLD​
Open to kids ages 8 to 12 (or will be turning 8 by start of school year)
PROGRAM FORMAT
  • ​​Offline creative work
  • Intermittent live sessions via Zoom
  • Interactive video posts
  • Community activities and engagement via FlipGrid
  • Video interaction, coaching/assistance, communication with facilitators 
I liked the peace word cloud, I made a word dragon out of my peace words. You got to choose from a wide variety of shapes and customize it. I'll probably make another one and print it out or find a way to get a cool background and maybe laminate it onto a card. - Bo, 12

PROGRAM GOALS
The goal of the summer enrichment program is for participants to:
  • Explore the meaning of peace through global inquiry, self-reflection and example led by Peace Heroes
  • Identify an aspect of climate change that’s of concern and take an action that leads others to take action as well
  • Be empowered to make a difference on the planet (and/or be inspired to launch and lead Peace Clubs)
​ACTIVITIES
  • Meditation, visualization​, setting intentions
  • Origami, collaging, drawing, imagineering
  • Self-introductions, video interviews, peer engagement
  • Storytelling and quotes from Peace Heroes
  • Kid-led projects at home, online, and in their own communities

DURATION
Thursday, July 16, 2020 – Thursday, August 20, 2020
Weekly independent activity through FlipGrid + 3 Live Zoom sessions

Participants may join the program at any time. However, we highly recommend attending all three live sessions and completing as many weekly program activities as possible in order to have an optimal and fulfilling experience.

Time commitment: Mostly independent activity during the week for a maximum of 
2 to 3 hours.
LIVE SESSIONS (45-min/one-hour)

Thursday, July 16 at 10 am Pacific / 1 pm Eastern
Thursday, July 23 Tentative and TBD due to time difference (special guest: Koko Kondo)

Thursday, August 6 at 10 am Pacific / 1 pm Eastern

Thursday, August 20 at 10 am Pacific / 1 pm Eastern Completion Ceremony

​ACHIEVEMENT CELEBRATION!
Followed by a very special Heal the Planet certificate of completion ceremony at the end of the program—for friends and family members to attend and honor the work of our young peacemakers!

The five-week journey begins with Peace to the Planet Founder Pat Montandon leading the kids in a guided meditation and candle lighting, sharing her storytelling magic of 35+ global peace missions with kids that sparks imagination and wonder, reminding children that they have the same power within them to effect massive change in the world!
​The best part was the Dalai Lama’s quotes and what he has to say. I enjoyed using colored markers and construction paper to copy down the quote I liked, to make it look really good. It had been a long time since i had done something creative like that. - Cooper
