Preparation and Getting Started in Peace Club Online Program

Technology stuff.
1.  Update your iOs
2. Download latest version of Google Chrome
3. Download Adobe Flash or update to latest version
4. Download Microsoft Edge

Log into Flipgrid.com/peaceclubs with your ID.

You will arrive at the Say Hi: Similarities/Differences page* where Peace Kids begin their journey with video self-introductions and interacting with other Peace Kids

Topics.

1. Every topic has an Objective which helps adults and kids understand the intention of the page and activities.
2.  Within each topic, there is always something to “do”⏤whether it’s watching a video online or reading up on something interesting or filling in an activity sheet.
3. Every topic requires video responses and comments from Peace Kids! This is an important aspect of the program, to help kids connect with kids they don’t know and to recognize those “similarities”!

Modifications.
Depending on your Peace Kid’s age, ability, interest, disposition, learning style⏤you may need to modify parts of the program to suit your kid. Totally fine! Let us know if you need any help with this.

Pad and pen/pencil.
Every time your Peace Kid sits down to interact with the Peace Clubs program on FlipGrid, please make sure they have something to write with and a fresh piece of paper. We highly recommend they have their own special “Peace Pad” as we will refer to it this way in some of the activities.

Check-ins.
We recommend taking 5 minutes to get situated and oriented at the beginning of each session and do the same at the end to find out what your Peace Kid has accomplished. Consider:
- Are they writing out in as much detail as possible?
- Are they giving video feedback to other kids?
- Are they “getting it”? Please get in touch with us if something’s not going the way they (or you) expected.

Extras.
In the Topics you’ll see some titled as “Extras”⏤which means kids can explore these if they find something interesting.

Checklists.
Peace Kids can refer to the checklist attached to each Topic to ensure they completed all aspects of the Topic. These appear underneath the “Tip” near the bottom of the page. (This is where Adults come in handy! Please do checklists together.)

Welcome page.
Be sure to visit it if you haven’t already! We try to make it fun and keep it up to date while your Peace Kid is on this journey. (But bear with us if it doesn’t reflect everything in real time.) You can always reach us for support.
